The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains

Chapter 388 Severing Ties

"She's not your wife anymore." Emily's voice cut through the tension like a knife. "From the moment she divorced you, you had nothing to do with her.

"There's no need for you to wail and put on a show. Her money, her company, everything she had-you won't get a single cent, Hayden. Give up on that idea." Her tone was icy, dripping with disdain as she addressed Hayden.

Everyone was stunned by her words, and Hayden mistakenly thought Emily was throwing another tantrum.

He even considered using his status as her father to reprimand her.

But before he could speak, a strong force yanked him away from behind.

"Mr. Smith, watch your injury!" Andrew called out.

Michael quickly pulled Hayden away from behind Emily, then stepped forward to shield her, speaking with unmistakable hostility.

"Mr. Brown, my wife has made it very clear. Her mother is no longer your wife. Please have some self-respect and stop making a scene. It's embarrassing for everyone."

Though Michael's tone was polite, it was laced with threat.

Without waiting for Hayden's response, Michael turned his attention back to Emily, knowing she was already upset and didn't need any more noise.

Michael also knew that at this moment, the priority was to give Isabella a proper burial. She had suffered so much in her life and hadn't even had the chance to enjoy her peaceful life with Emily before leaving this world...

Michael signaled to Andrew, who immediately moved to escort Hayden out.

The scene was chaotic and disgraceful.

Sophia watched, seething with jealousy, but when Michael's gaze shifted to her, she felt

a shiver of fear. His eyes were terrifying, making her lips tremble as she tried to speak but found herself unable to.

She turned and left in anger, her eyes shooting daggers at Michael.

But Michael didn't care. He was only concerned about Emily.

Seeing her face grow colder, he felt a pang of indescribable pain and a sudden wave of anxiety.

Michael feared that his presence might make Emily uncomfortable, just as she despised Hayden.

After a moment of internal struggle, Michael clenched his fists, suppressing his emotions, and spoke with a hint of bitterness, "Emily, I want to stay with you." Emily took a deep breath at his words.

She looked up at him, her eyes red and filled with despair. Even her usually cold and proud voice was now hoarse.

"Michael."

Michael had expected her to reject him, but she called his name instead.

In that instant, Michael felt his heart tremble.

"Yes?" He snapped back to reality, slightly dazed.

Seeing Emily's exhausted expression, Michael felt a deep, indescribable ache, a turmoil

that surged from his heart to his throat, leaving him momentarily speechless.

"I want Roger to pay for what he's done. You've got evidence, right?"

Michael understood Emily's feelings and her intentions.

He nodded and replied, "Leave it to me. You don't need to worry about it."

Then he turned to Andrew and instructed, "Send the video evidence we gathered to the Emerald City Police Department. File a lawsuit against the Ward family in the name of Smith Corporation. Make sure Roger ends up in prison, paying for his crimes."

"Yes, sir!" Andrew immediately set to work.

As he hurried out, he saw Sophia and Hayden still lingering at the door. Their faces were grim, but Andrew ignored them, giving only a brief glance before continuing his task. Hayden, however, couldn't hold back.

Despite his grief over Isabella's death, he was more outraged by the actions of these despicable people. Once, Sophia had been highly respected by Michael, and Michael had treated him with utmost respect. Andrew would have had to acknowledge him as Michael's father-in-law!

But now? When it rains, it pours.

Hayden, unable to contain his anger, turned on Sophia. "Look at this mess! Why did you bring me here? Your sister is grieving and can't even think about us, and that Michael..."

Realizing he was speaking too loudly, Hayden glanced towards the hospital room and lowered his voice, seething at Sophia. "You know Michael's status very well! I can't even get a word in with him, and you, you're just as useless. How can you not understand your own position? How dare you show off in front of him?

"Now look at us, humiliated. How am I supposed to keep an eye on Emily now..."

"Shut up!" Before Hayden could finish, Sophia cut him off impatiently. What sister? She didn't acknowledge Emily at all! Emily, that wretch, had the nerve to order Michael around while carrying another man's child. It was outrageous!

She refused to believe it. If Michael ever found out that Emily had been with another man and was pregnant with his child before their divorce, he would be furious! He wouldn't stand for it! The Smith family's honor wouldn't stand for it!

When that day came, wouldn't it be her chance? Thinking of this, Sophia felt that the current humiliation was nothing.

"If you don't want to make money, fine. I don't need you. You're just a burden!"noveldrama

Hayden was furious at Sophia's scolding. "Explain how I'm a burden to you!"

Sophia's words were sharp, leaving no room for her father, Hayden. "You never cared for Emily, and now you expect her to call you 'Dad'? Do you think she's an idiot? If it were me, I wouldn't acknowledge you either!

"Oh, I don't plan to acknowledge you now! Hayden, do you really think a bit of blood relation can bind us together forever?

"When you slept with that woman, you should have known that my mother and I would never forgive you!"
